summer fun continues
It is Hard to believe we ar eat the end of July. We have had some beautiful weather this year, and we are anticipating more!!! Dale is on his way home today, back to the real world. And we are off to church, which in this small branch is highly exciting, you never know what is going to happen.
Aphra and Michael are having fun; I have to put them together as they do everything together. Well mostly, Aphra can outlast him in the water, but that’s only because he has NO body fat to keep him warm, even on 30 degree (Celsius) days. They have found some new friends this year, And when they made a fort in the back were visited by every other kid around, and they were declared the best fort. In their quest they (unknowingly) unplugged the neighbors fridge when they plugged in their lights for the fort, not good. But at least I made a new friend when I had to go and apologize.
Corbin is a ghost, he sleeps here, and sometimes he eats here. He has two buddies, Kaden and Bo. Corbin is our early riser, he leaves at 9:30am and at 9:30pm we go find him. And we often think we see him slip in and out, but we are never sure. I was asking Kadens mom if it was okay that Corbin was ALWAYS there, and she assured me it was as Corbin was a big help(with Kaci, Kaden’s 11 month old sister), always polite, and if he was a problem she would ship him back. I am a little jealous, as that is not exactly how he acts around here.
Corin has been talking about having Kaden over for a fire, So while Dad and Dale were working one night I thought it would be the perfect opportunity, I thought we’d start a fire, and have boys cook hot dogs and marshmallows. Well I wasn’t quite ready for them when they showed up and as Michael and I tried to light the fire we were unsuccessful. And with the 3 little boys chanting at us “Use some Gas” and all relating how either their dad or uncle or Grandpa uses gas to start their fire I was on the moral ground of not using an accelerant of any kind. I did in fact use my mom’s readers digest, but that was all. Well my fire never did take off even after resorting to kerosene (there was no gas around) and we called dale to come start our fire, He used dry wood. There is always next time.
Mahlon is Mr. Friendly. He knows everyone, and everyone knows Mahlon. He talks to everyone walking by, and everyone walking by stops to chat with Mahlon. People say “hello Mahlon” and he asks “How do they know my name?” I always answer”I just don’t know”. He is still obsessed with my dad’s boat. And this year he is helping load the boat onto the trailer, and when Grandpa comes to shore, and if he is not on the boat he goes out to help him guide it on shore. “I got ya Grandpa”. He is also getting a lot braver in the water Dale was throwing him in the water, before the deepest he would go was his knees. And everyday he practices his “swimming lesson”, which is him swimming in his life jacket.
And Kezia, well she is still constipated, so after a particularly bad night we took her to the doctor, and he gave us a prescription for this laxative, which is now my best friend. I am not big on medication especially for my kids, but YAHOO!!! Life is good. She went a good while, a week and a half, with out passing out. But now she does it maybe every 3rd day. She loves to walk, she can’t do it by herself yet, but what ever you do- don’t let her get a hold of your two fingers then she will get you to walk her, up and down the hall. She has hurt all of our backs, the only one left is Mahloln who is just the right height, bless his heart he walks her. And if you think you won’t walk her she always somehow manages to get you up. It’s a little freaky.
Every year we find new things that we love a t the lake. Last year it was the dingy, but I popped it, so it is no more. But I thought I would share what makes my life a little better around here:
First is pool noodles. The weather has been warm enough to enjoy the water, usually we love to float on the water, but this year we enjoy getting into the water.
The candy Aisle at Wal-mart, this was most scary the first few weeks, we didn’t worry so much about the groceries as we did about the candy, but we are back on track. Kind of. I am still pulling bags of skittles out of nowhere. The big hit with the kids was Jelly Belly’s, they loved the mix bag, and guessing the flavors, the one they didn’t like was cinnamon, which as they left a pile on the table one night, and unfortunately my Dad, had a mouthful before he realized.
Dawgs- At first I was a little skeptical bout these shoes, but after wearing my moms around the house I fell in love with them, and I got me my own pair.
Anything from Gourmet Village- www.gourmetduvillage.com- Everything from meat rubs, to fruit dips, vegetable dips, baked potatoe toppings, its ways cool.
I am also posting some pictures of the new Cabin in progress; we are all getting very excited!! We keep thing of all the great reasons about the new place. Dad has finished the Deck in the Back, and built two more on the front. Out of necessity so he could reach the top to finish the soffits and fascia (very bad spelling). We are very excited, And Looking forward to next year!! He has built it basically by himself, everything that he thought he was going to hire someone to do he has eventually decided to do himself, plumbing, wiring, etc…He works in the morning, most days he plays with us in the afternoon, although he is usually reading up on what he is working on. Then he goes back to work after dinner. He was saying something the other day about needing a Holiday from his Holiday. Good Job Dad!!!
