With Mothers Day fast approaching I guess its time for me to earn my Moment of Zen, otherwise Known as the Mother’s Day Breakfast in Bed.
Mahlon.
First let it be known that I love this Child, and because of that Love I am willing to do all the hard it will take to have him grow up and participate with the rest of Society. Yesterday I thought it would be a nice treat if I took him to the Store for an ice cream cone. So we did a few errands in town first, then we stopped at the store for what really is the best vanilla soft serve ever.
Mahlon then, decides that he would like candies as well so I’m like sure you can choose 5- five cent candies. Well he starts filling his bag full of candies, and I remind him only 5: 1-2-3-4-5, in my nicest mommy voice of course.
Well he is just not hip to that. So, he starts freaking, and let me tell you a five year old (somebody’s birthday on Friday) Screaming”I want Candy!!” in the middle of a store- not cute.
As a side note: I have Kezia in the stroller, and a melting Ice Cream cone in the other hand. Neither of them am I willing to part with. So I force the screaming & wailing child out of the store, he then hides behind a cement flower pot, so I pull him out of there, and force him to head home. He then refuses to get on his Bike, so I put the front wheel in the stroller basket, and drag it home (which is hanging nicely in my garage out of his reach). Oh I should probably mention I see no less than 10 people I am faintly acquainted here in town with. Nice.
By the time I get him home, put him in his room for a time out for me. He is still freaking out. And after he eventually (a good 30 min) calms down we have a nice little talk about using our self control, and when we want things we have to ask nicely, yada yada yada... anyways I tell him he can’t have the candies he chose today, but we could try again tomorrow.
Day 2.
I had to return a movie to the store, So I ask Mahlon if he would like to go to the store and Pick out 5-five cent candies. He says he wants a slurpee, and I remind him, “No, 5 candies”.
"Ice Cream?” He negotiates
I hold fast. “No, if you would like you can choose 5 candies”.
Well we got to the end of the drive way before he lost it, and we had a repeat! And you may ask me "why wouldn’t you just stay home?" Because I am trying to break the boy!! So everyday we are going to try again, so if you would pray for me, I’m going to need it!
I am posting pictures of Mahlon’s soccer, just so you can see the cuteness I am working with here!!!
