Well there have been a few changes in the past month, and in honor of our Anniversary I would like to share some. Some good, some bad.
One of the things I am asked most often is what do I miss, and without a doubt I say Angela. It’s not the same when you want to go out after Woman’s Conference, and nobody is up to going out to share Fries and a beef dip at the local Zellers (HAHAHA we have just been outed!) Or a daily phone call discussing what we are working ourselves up to make for dinner. Or Having Nolan & Jarom over for the night (Believe it or not I actually do miss that!!) Anyway it’s one of the things that is different.
Another, is the traffic. Sometimes as I would drive down Pembina Highway and say wow look at all this traffic. HA HA HA, How I yearn for that traffic. Traffic here is Crazy, There is never a real down time, Dale leaves for work at 5am, and he says(and I am not about to find out for myself) there is the same amount of traffic as any other time of day, less though than rush hour traffic. Once we were caught in rush hour, NEVER NEVER AGAIN. Nothing is worth traveling at that time. Another thing traffic related, is there are normal traffic lights, no green arrow (Meaning straight through the intersection) below a red light, you have to venture to Winnipeg to experience it for yourself.
Time Difference. This is more of an issue than I thought it would be. 2 hours is a big difference when trying to call back to Manitoba, either it’s our dinner time or there’s or it’s just too late. When I call Home I’m not that worried, they love 11pm phone calls!!! Just be thankful no one has received a midnight phone call!!!
The Weather. I watch the news and I know they are telling me it’s cold in most of Canada, but I just don’t get it. It is January/February and its plus 9. It is too much for my brain to handle. People here complain that its cold, all I say is ”Really?... What?” And the rain is a bit chilly, but they just don’t get cold. I’m scared I am going to lose my tough prairie girl resistance. Although that wouldn’t be too bad I guess.
Ferries. Sometimes you have to drive your car onto a ferry where they float you across to the other side, but again with the traffic, you have to watch your timing otherwise you can wait for a very long time. It’s pretty neat.
Dishwasher. The jury is still out on this. It’s a big hassle, and sometimes I feel like I am washing them before the dishwasher gets the chance, but I am slowly getting used to it. I’ve already wrecked my favorite pair of pants with the detergent; Palmolive would never do that to me. The best thing about it? is it completely sterilizes everything.
School. Its all about the time before school was 9am-3:45 usually they got home around 4 pm. Now they have to be there at 8:30 and they are home around 2:30. Mahlon is home by 11am. Honestly this was almost the deal breaker, and I am still not crazy about it.
Basement. The ceiling is high and it doesn’t smell musty. I rest my case.
There are actually lots of things that are different, these are but a few. So far everything is going very well for us (and yes Dad we have made a house payment!!!)! Although we miss all our Friends and Family, We just feel truely blessed to be here! If we are going to start all over here is where we want to do it!!

What a complainer! Just kidding. You've had to make lots of adjustments. You all unpacked yet? I really like the dishwasher tabs, they aren't really messy.
Yah get those kids on a bus. I rode a bus when I was in Kindergarten.
Well everyone asured me that I would love it, And I just don't. Not that I loved hand washing, but it seemed that I could wash them and get them put away, no problems. Now I'm loading/unloading, waiting to wash so I can add more dishes...I'm just waiting to LOVE it. I am to cheap for the tabs, THe liquid stuff is in my budget. Although I do contimplate get the really fancy tabs, maybe in "Mother Heaven" Not to worry Hedi, I am going to try to refocus my efforts on loving it, I still want to be cousins!!!I'll do anything!!
Anne,
The tabs for the dishwasher are cheaper than you think. I thought they were too expensive too. But, you actually use less that way than with the liquid or powder. Plus is you watch for sales you can get a lot of them for very little. Anyway, it's not the same here in Niverville without you. Bonny
