Super Shopping Saturday

This past Saturday we spent in Washington State (that's just so you didn't think we drove all across the country, Banna!!). We were lured by the promise of fantastic shopping at Seattle Prime Outlets. it is about less than 2 hours from our house, but the big delay always seems to be the border crossing, and apparently because of the Tulip festival(the kids were like who'd want to celebrate Tulips??), there were even more people trying to cross. Here is where I totally make fun of Dale!!! The older he gets the more uptight he gets. Seriously uptight. We had planned on leaving early Saturday to avoid the rush, but Aphra went to a sleepover which delayed us by a few hours. Seriously this completely throw him off, he was trying to talk us out of going, but the kids put it best we had nothing else to do so we might as well wait in line at the border. Okay not Aphra, she was like "lets go home, whaaa whaaa whaaaaa."

**keep in mind I am pregnant and Grumpy**

But we endured the Hour Plus wait at the border, mostly by tormenting Grumpy Aphra, and not letting Mahlon eat any snacks unless he sang for them. I had a great time. And then we would taunt Dale with the thought of heading home, but then we would revoke, hahahhahahahahaaa. Sad what passes for amusing in the Car.

The drive on Interstate 5 is beautiful, even Aphra looked away from her movie to comment. When we finally arrived at the Outlet Stores, it was Jam Packed, Tour Buses and all. but it was large enough that it wasn't to bad. They had all kind of stores, but my favorite was Restoration Hardware. It is too expensive to buy at regular price, but the discount price seemed more reasonable, slightly more reasonable. We almost brought home a King Size bed frame, for the King size bed that I want to get, it was 90% off. but then we said once we bought the bed, then We'd go back and look, the whole cart before the horse thing. Anyhow we had a very enjoyful day off shopping, Kezia sat in her stroller, completely agreeable even falling asleep, yeah right. She screamed and freaked out, her goal was to push the stroller herself, mostly into people. unless the children's rides caught her eye, then she screamed for those. Really, as if we aren't a freak show in and of ourselves, and now our youngest is a traitor. And seriously all Dale said was "we can't Walk 4 wide, single file!!" Ohh it was fun.

We eventually got what we went for Juice Boxes, 6lbs of Pretzels, and a playpen for the new Baby, since Kezia is still in her Crib, the baby needs someplace, so we bought a playpen with a bassinet. Target's price is 1/2 price than here.

We stopped on the way back at this A&W/KFC restaurant. There was this Juke Box with Really old songs, but the kids loved playing with it, and Corbin was Like "Dad, there Are Elvis Songs" which I think we listened to them all. We had to drag them out of there. But we love KFC in the states, their default is mashed potatoes, Gravy and a "roll", here in Canada everything comes with fries.

Oh and My last bit of ranting is the fact that here in Canada you pay at least $6 for a small tub of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. $2.22 at Walmart in the States. It's a good thing I had a spoon in the Van!

I too spent my saturday shopping and I took my three girls, and met up with Heidi. I came away with some treaures, and had a great time too! Sadly I ended up having to cut my fun short after my husby phoned to tell me to get my butt home. Gosh, you'd think I was a wife and mother or something!

It ALL comes back. I hate the border crossing we would be making good time with the 3 little ones then get stuck for what seemed like forever and since we usaully went to Utah for the Holidays we always met lots of holiday traffic. I dont miss that. I went shopping at the washington outlets a few times it was nice going to more familiar places(than what we had on Salt Spring)I am glad that you had a good time. Korby
