Fathers Day Weekend

Funny how the fun never stops! It has been an interesting weekend, I headed off late Friday night to the City, I had to get Corbin a Personal First Aid Kit for His Cub Day on Saturday. And on my way home I stopped at Dairy Queen, I was going to get onion Rings & Chocolate Silk Pie Blizzard, yes I am specific, but I had lots of time to think of my reward as I waited in line at the Superstore. Then as I head inside for my Yummy Yummy treat, my phone rings, And Dale says the Barfuss’s are coming over and we are going for Ice Cream!! I’d give my blizzard up for that, so I head home! And sure enough they are there along with the Orr’s. It was fun, I love it when people show up at my house, seeing that we live out of town, it doesn’t happen often! Plus I really enjoy Vicki & Darren, so it was a doubly good time.

And I do believe Saturday is by far the best day on record ever. Dale woke up early and not only did he get Corbin ready, but he took him to his Cub day. Not that it’s unusual for him to do that, but rather more likely that I was just so appreciative. I spent pretty much the morning in bed, not sure how with the baby, but I managed. I watched a movie, “Fun with Dick and Jane”, well more like finished it from the previous night as I fell soundly asleep at some point. Then I goofed around for a bit, then I watched “Memoirs of a Geisha”. I can’t really account for anytime spent Saturday, and I love it! It was just so nice to be at home. I think it is my warm up to the lake.

Then Saturday night we went out to celebrate Felicia’s Birthday! She wanted to go to the Old Spaghetti Factory, but it was a 2 hour wait. So we headed to Brannigans. It was fun; we took Kezia as she has been doing that passing out thing more frequently; everyday for the past 5 days. So we didn’t want to freak out the babysitter (Just so you know the doctor said it was normal, nothing to worry about). Anyways she was very well behaved. Much more than I can say for myself!!! Just kidding. After dinner we headed to heaven, AKA Baked Expectations, I had a piece of dessert that will stick with me through the ages. Then we decided to go bowling. But no one had socks, not a lot of places that have socks after 10 pm at night. So we stopped at Safeway. And this would be the highlight of the night. Shopping in Safeway with Russ & Ernie when they realize all their only choice is woman’s ankle socks. But our selection was wide: plain white, soft fuzzy white, pink or striped. Pink with puppies, or blue with hearts, well you get the picture... It was pretty funny. So they decided that the plain white woman’s ankle socks would be an okay alternative to the nasty bowling shoes with nothing. Then we headed to the lane. And we had a great time Bowling, I of course came in Dead Last. It’s a good thing I am not competitive. Our night ended relatively early so Felicia could go home and Boss Ernie around for the last 15minutes of her Birthday, but I think she mentioned on her way home something about it being her Birthday Weekend! Happy Birthday Felicia!

Then Sunday we were able to celebrate all the Dads. Except this year Dale got totally ripped off. It seems I have been in a funk the last few days, so Dale ended up taking care of me. (As a side note: I have discovered my inner neediness. It won’t last long but we are going to milk it while it lasts.) The best was He didn’t have meetings before Church, so we went to church together which was a really nice treat! And the Young Women sang “Love at Home” in Sacrament Meeting, and they sounded wonderful. That too was a nice treat. And then Aphra and I made fun of Dale on the stand, as he is always nodding off (Especially if he has been up late the night before). So it was a weird mish mash of things. Angela made supper for the Dads. I’d say I helped but that would be a lie. We had steak, and Potatoes, mushrooms and Salad. And for Desert we had an ice cream cake that Dale bought (Why he sticks around I am not sure).I am really thankful he is such a good Dad. I knew he would be, he is a little crazy at times, but I am okay with that, it makes life interesting. He just loves his kids, and loves to do things with them. He was thrilled last night after he was playing hockey with Corbin in the driveway, Corbin Said ”Thanks for playing hockey with me” And Dale was pretty happy with that! I didn’t get a chance to talk to my Dad last night, As he was heading home from the Cabin, but I did call TWICE!!! The other day at Super Start we had talk about a favorite memory with my Dad. I would have to say I just like to hang out with my Dad. We do it all summer and at the end you would think I would be sick of Him, but no. I am always really sad, and start looking forward to the next summer. Which reminds me the big count down is on!!! 11 sleeps until we head to the Lake, otherwise known as my Summer Residence (I once saw it in an obituary and like the sound of it), and I disappear from Blog Mania.. But not to worry Dale has set me up with a way to continue throughout the summer, I just need to find some wireless solutions.
