It was the fair… who wouldn’t have fun?!
The anticipation hit a fever pitch here on Friday afternoon. It was the Fair weekend, With Main Street blocked off, and the fair right in the heart of town. Who wouldn’t be excited?
It's all the kids have talked about for the last week, the big count down! And it was finally here!
Last week the school held a contest, For free admission & a Rides wristband for Friday night. For the younger grades it was a color contest, and the older grades it was a crossword puzzle, which they drew from. Corbin’s never made it into the draw drum as he was in the bathroom while they were coloring, and you can ask him about that as he is more than willing to tell anyone why he missed it. Me, I am way more embarrassed. And Aphra brought hers home and I think it was her mom who helped her with her puzzle. And all week she dreamed about what she was going to do with her Friday Night Pass that she was going to win. We had planned to take the kids just the Saturday and make a whole day of it. And lo and behold Thursday she comes home with her pass!! Way to go!! So Aphra was all set for the week end.
Aphra hung out with her friends Friday night, and about 9 pm our little Aphie shows up, freaking out and in tears. Apparently she was on the Skymaster, and she started to feel sick. She tried to hold it, but she couldn’t. She threw up everywhere. But she mostly felt bad for the guy she threw up on. I think we do too. We got her showered and changed and back she went. We met up with her later at 11pm for the black out firework, where they turn off the town lights. It is pretty cool for a small town.
And Saturday was our day. We, okay Dale took Corbin & Mahlon, Aphra was still sleeping, and I stayed home with Kezia, to the pancake breakfast.
Then my Friends(with the exception of Angela who was at home building a walkway) showed up to watch the parade from our front lawn. All the kids care about is the candy. And there is a lot to be had.
After the parade we headed to Main Street and started our day of Fun! The nice thing about a small town is your kids are pretty much free to go by themselves, as there is a parent of one of their group every 10 feet. And I think those 2 way radios were invented by a parent. We hung out with my friend Michelle all day, and we kidnapped her nephew Luke, Mahlon’s friend. Michelle and I each bought a wristband, and were going to have a fun day. First we went on the skymaster, which was not too bad. Then we went on the Boat. Not good. I was okay until we started slowing down, that was it. As we came to a complete stop I threw up, the worker was very nice, he was “just let it out.” And I did. Gross. And in a weird twist of fate, Dale and the camera were no where to be seen. Otherwise he would have posted it as my just deserts. I’ll never live it down as it is, I can’t imagine with the video.
So I headed home to clean up, and take a gravol, (which saved the rest of the day! I couldn't have gone on without it) And Dale and Michelle took the kids on rides and filled them with Junk food. The boys had a great time, and we stayed until 6pm, and then Dale and the boys went home for supper. Then they were heading back for more fun on the midway! And I headed to the city for a youth Dance which our ward hosted. It only went until 10pm so I tried to hurry so I could get home and meet up with the boys to watch the fireworks at 11pm. So I raced in the house to call dale to see where he was so I could find him. He was in bed, and the boys were fast asleep. Nice. This actually worked out better anyways as they were exhausted for Sunday anyway. **And As A side note Elder Terrence C. Smith came and gave a fireside on Sunday night at the Church which was excellent, and if anyone ever has a chance to hear him speak, take it!! **** And a big Thank you to my ever sweet Joelle who babysat my kids on Sunday so I could attend THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! One day I will return the favor! ****
